How it meets ACOP L8 and HSG274 Part 2
HSG274 Part 2 (Hot Water Systems) and the associated ACOP L8 require duty holders to demonstrate ongoing control of Legionella risk through regular temperature monitoring at key points in the water system. This device is built to fulfil those requirements directly.
Temperature thresholds required under HSG274 Part 2:
- Hot water storage: maintained at ≥60 °C
- Hot water distribution: ≥50 °C at sentinel outlets within 1 minute of running
- Cold water supply: ≤20 °C at sentinel outlets within 2 minutes of running
- Blended water (thermostatic mixing valve outlet): typically 38–44 °C
With up to three NTC thermistor probes, a single unit monitors the hot supply, cold supply, and blended outflow at one outlet simultaneously — the exact three-point configuration described in HSG274 for sentinel outlet testing. Configurable threshold alerts notify you the moment any reading breaches the L8 temperature range, providing immediate evidence of a control failure and enabling corrective action before risk escalates.
Continuous monitoring vs manual checks
HSG274 Part 2 calls for monthly temperature checks at sentinel outlets and quarterly checks at all other outlets. Continuous LoRaWAN monitoring replaces manual visits with automated, time-stamped readings — logged, stored, and exportable for audit.
